The worst summer in living memory is over and Ardfert Camera Club has just begun its 2012/13 season of meetings. During the break we had little opportunity to take those pictures that represent the idyllic summer we expect, we did however during the respites from the wind and rain we did manage to take summer photos. The club was also involved in the Sam McCauley Photographic Exhibition last weekend.
Firstly we were delighted that Sam McCauley’s gave us the opportunity to take part in their photographic exhibition held in the manor West Hotel last Sunday. We had a stand and great interest was shown in people coming along to join our club. As a testament to the success of the exhibition we had what I think was our biggest every crowd at the meeting last night and I hope all of the new people enjoyed the meeting and will return in the future.
Since there are so many new people coming along we decided to begin with so of the basic terminology of DSLR and Bridge Cameras and we had two presentations on Aperture also known as F Stops. The presentations explained the effect the Aperture has on the Depth of Field and the amount of light that arrives at the camera sensor.
The results of the competition are:
1. Dillon Boyer 166 Points
2. Joanne Crowley 160 Points
3. Steve Baker 185 Points
Dillon’s picture was a stunning portrait of a Farrier at work making horse shoes. Joanne took her photograph at Duffy Circus of performers doing a trapeze act. The photograph caught the performers in a beautiful silhouette and fabulous light. Steve’s entry paid homage to a Guinness advert and is of a quality that could grace any of the top magazines in the world.
Our next meeting is scheduled for September 27th, at this meeting we will hold our AGM and also discuss Shutter Speed and Composition. For further information visit our website at http://ardfertcameraclub.weebly.com
