We held the final meeting for the 2011/2012 season last Thursday June 28th and our first meeting for the 2012/13 season will be held on Thursday September 6th. The programme of event for that season is not finalised but as soon as I have updates the programme will be posted on our website (see the bottom of this article).
At the meeting we held an Open Competition and the results are:
1. Dillon Boyer 110 points
2. Steve Baker 108
3. Maura Miller 100
4. Donal Stack 94
5. Seamus O’Donovan 94
The top 5 in the Photographer of the Year are:
1. Dillon Boyer 206
2. Tommy Toomey 167
3. Maura Miller 140
4. Francis Foley 137
5. Yvette O’Shea 125
We discussed the feedback we got from our very successful exhibition in the Library and the planning begins now for next year’s event. At the meeting it was also decided to postpose the visit to the Animal Sanctuary in Killmallock until the autumn.
Now to tips for summer photography (thanks to the Digital Photography School).
1. Bring your camera to events such as local festivals and shows.
2. Mind your camera, protect it from sand, dust and especially water.
3. If you’re on vacation, bring the essential pieces of kit only.
4. Share your shots; post them on Facebook or Flickr.
Mind yourself, put on the sunscreen (I live in hope) and enjoy our holidays and the long evenings and the fine weather.
For further information contact Francis Foley on 087 905 4161 or [email protected] or visit our website at http://ardfertcameraclub.weebly.com. Remember that we always welcome new members and guests to the club which has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, no need to have a fancy camera, come along and learn how to take better pictures.
