Our planned outing to Fenit for last Thursday did not go ahead because of the overcast calm conditions. This light is no good for portraits but very poor for landscapes. Landscape photographers prefer to shoot during the golden hour, which occurs in both the morning and the evening. It last for around a half an hour either side of the sunset.
Landscape photographers like to see the sun at this time but we also need to see some clouds to give the picture some scale and drama. The name golden hour comes from the beautiful golden hues that the setting sun imparts upon the scene. This Thursday I have arranged for the perfect golden hour conditions to present in Fenit. We will meet in the Car Park adjacent to the children’s playground at 7.30 and from there we will make a circuit of the general Fenit area.
We had a club meeting instead of the outing last Thursday Night and also ran an open competition and the results are as follows:
1. Dillon Boyer
2. Tommy Toomey
3. James O'Louighlin
4. Joe O'Brien
5. Laura Horgan
The Photographer of the Year Competition top 5 are:
1. Dillon Boyer 181
2. Tommy Toomey 147
3. Francis Foley 118
4. Maura Miller 117
5. Yvette Shea 109
For further information contact Francis Foley on 087 905 4161 or [email protected] or visit our website at http://ardfertcameraclub.weebly.com. Remember that we always welcome new members and guests to the club which has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, no need to have a fancy camera, come along and learn how to take better pictures.
